Auckland

The Auckland Skytower

It seems that almost everywhere you go in Auckland that The Skytower is looming over you.  Having said that it is next to impossible to get the entire thing in to the one photograph.  Bearing that in mind an extreme building requires extreme photography – so I got up close.  This is the result:

The rest of the photos that I took last night didn’t turn out too well – more experimentation with the camera required I think.  It’s either that or I need to read the instruction manual properly.  Now where would be the fun in that!

More on the Museum

Yes they do actually let me out in daylight, even if it does disappear rapidly once I escape.

Auckland War Memorial Museum 2.JPG

I think this is a reasonably good outside view of the Auckland War Memorial Museum; and I’ve managed to get the crane hidden behind the building.
It’s hard to get a full-frontal shot as the war memorial itself (on the far left-hand side) tends to get in the way.

The Auckland War Memorial Museum

Had a quick visit to the The Auckland War Memorial Museum

It sits at the top of the Auckland Domain overlooking the city, an ever present reminder of the past.  What an amazing tribute this is to the past endeavours of a nation.
They are in the process of adding more space, so trying to get a good photo is proving tricky with a dirty great crane sticking out of the top of the building.  I think this one fixed that problem, and I don’t think I’m going to have any shortage of time trying to get other shots either.

The Britomart Centre

The Britomart Centre is the hub of Auckland’s Public Transport system – ferries, buses, and trains.

The building itself is the old Auckland Chief Post Office (CPO). I don’t know why they couldn’t have a GPO like everyone else, but that’s Kiwis for you I guess. There is more information and photos on the Auckland City Website

Brisbane One Day Auckland The Next

Life as an international jet-setter is tough!  So much for Brisbane – we are now in Auckland, New Zealand.  Two hours in front of Australia, time wise; I won’t say anything about how many years behind.
This is the view from the apartment window that I have at the moment..

The view from the office window is much more down-to-earth I can assure you.
